Cutie Pie and Grandma Yoo Hoo

Wahhhhhh....Where did Baby Hadley go? This big girl lives here instead.... She is definitely closer to being a toddler than a baby!

Grandma Julie came for a wonderful visit. Brooke and Blake picked her up at the airport, which made quite an impression on Brooke. We enjoyed the soaking pool on Sunday!

8 Tidbits

My 2.5 Year Old:

1. Makes no attempt to dress herself. It is like dressing a 35 pound bag of jello.

2. Loves to speculate what is in the semi-trucks we see on the road between school and home. #1 guess is "BINKIES" followed by "That is a lot of binkies!" #2 guess is peanut butter.

3. Likes to announce when she can see Mt. Hood, of which we get an AWESOME view of on clear afternoons on our way home. She also points out Mt. Hood within the various logos we see around town.

4. Places her toys, shoes, food etc. face down and says "My ______ is sad." or "My _______ is crying."

5. Is beginning to speak to her sister like she is an actual person.

6. Sobs and says she needs her Daddy when I ask her to do something she doesn't want to do.

7. Enjoys reading books before bedtime while sitting in my lap in the rocking chair. She folds her hands on her lap and it KILLS me with cuteness.

8. Frequently declares "My baby is coming out!" and when asked what kind of baby it is, she says "Baby Jesus!". This is a strange dialogue resulting from her teacher having a baby and reading the Nativity story to her at Christmas.

My 11 month old:

1. Still refuses to hold her bottle. Ever.

3. Shows signs of sleeping through the night on a regular basis.

4. Loves popcorn more than any other food. Popcorn - the least baby-friendly food there is. She also showed much joy when given her first french fry. She held it in her fist, waved it around in between bites and raised it to the sky while beaming lovingly at it.

5. Would probably climb INSIDE the TV if it were possible. She stands approx. 1" from the TV when it is on. I hate that.

6. Makes Brooke's story time impossible when she is in the room. She wants to grab the book away from us or spends the rest of the time crawling around bonking herself on things and wailing. Poor Brooke.

7. Waves "bye-bye" backwards.

8. Still will sleep on my chest in the night, holding my necklace...just like she did at one day old.

First Haircut

Brooke had her very first haircut today! She was very well behaved during the session. And since we went to Edgefield for the service, we got a pool key for the day!

Happy Easter!

The girls opened their Easter baskets this morning and we had Brooke hunt for eggs after her nap. She caught on right away about looking for eggs. We are going to have to eat them quickly, though...she liked to really chuck them into her basket!

The whole album may be found by clicking here.

Eggcellent - Easter Eve

* I tried to post this last night, but blogger was giving me trouble.*

We colored eggs today. Brooke liked coloring on the eggs with the wax crayon, but she enjoyed dropping the crayon into the dye cups even more. The Easter Bunny was busy tonight putting everything together. Tomorrow should be fun!

Hadley thinks "Eh? What is the big deal?".

Visit to the Park / Picture Day

Brooke loves to go to the park in the evening. We are on board with this since it means less chance of begging for another viewing of The Incredibles. She doesn't do the slides here. She prefers having me help her climb the bars and swing on the tiny little swing.

And then there is The Rock (not the actor, a REAL rock). Brooke looks for this rock every time and she carries it around lovingly, or asks ME to carry it around lovingly.

During all this rock adoration, Hadley sits on the trike. Watching, dreaming of the day she can find her own rock to carry around.

*Bonus* You can see her two bottom teeth!!!

The girls had their photos taken at school today. I tried to get some shots this evening, but they were tired of the paparazzi flashing them.

SUNSHINE!

We had very nice weather this weekend. Blake was busy and not only finished a nice bookshelf for the girls' toys in the living room, he also installed a bike seat for Brooke on the beach cruiser! She got a Dora helmet to protect her noggin, too. We took her on inaugural rides around the neighborhood, but she spent the whole ride telling us she wanted to go swing back at the house...which is what Hadley was doing. The grass is always greener, right?

*news* Brooke used the potty at school today! Are we turning a corner here?

10 Month Check-Up

Hadley is growing beautifully. She weighs in at 24 pounds (97th percentile) and is 31 inches long (100+ percentile)! We thank our lucky stars daily for such healthy children.

New tricks in Hadley's bag include stretching on tippy-toes to try and grab food off other kid's highchairs, babbling loudly, and royally annoying Brooke during evening book reading time by shrieking, wiggling and trying to rip the book out of my hands!

For comparison: Brooke's 9.5 month appointment.

Also, I am trying out a new color scheme. Things may change from day to day while I tinker with it.
