Waiting

We had a very quiet long weekend, waiting for the baby that wouldn't arrive. She provided numerous false alarms, but she just wouldn't budge. And so we wait and so I go to work.

Brooke is working on her spoon skilz.

Review

Blake sent me off to see Indy 4 last night. While I won't spoil it for you, I give it a 7.5 out of 10. Points were taken off for a sappy ending and the Area 51 slant on things. H. Ford was the Indy we all know and love, though his tanned & waxed chest was a bit strange. They also bathed him in VERY favorable lighting. It was a good time all around. Thank you Baby #2 for staying in there so I could go to the movie!

It hurts just to look at it....

Brooke looks a bit worried here - like she might accidentally be crushed by the giant belly.

We have created a swing monster. She prefers her meals outside now, swinging in the breeze and taking in the neighborhood.

Just for the record - the official due date is June 9th. I simply CANNOT get over how ginormous my belly is. To think that I could technically have THREE MORE weeks at this size and larger makes me want to faint. My doctor has mercifully called a last and final inducement date a bit earlier than that but I am not sure she will stay in there until then. Blake is convinced she will come any day now and my co-workers want to know what the plan is if I go into labor at my desk..... People on the city sidewalks are giving me pitying looks and wide berths as I sloooooowly shuffle by...

I have my weekly Dr. appointment in 1/2 an hour - we will see if there is any "open-sesame-ing" going on.

She needs to wait until Friday, at least - I have plans to go and see Indy 4 tomorrow night!!!

S*P*O*I*L*E*D

Well, well, well. A certain little lady has a few new items - a swing, a pool, a swimsuit and some summer Croc sandals. She quite enjoyed them all!!!! Blake worked very hard making her swing just right. Just a few more Saturdays of being the star of the show - Baby #2 is almost fully baked.

I have also included an ofoto link to some more photos. Ofoto Link

No dice.

We have caved after one day without the evening bottle. Brooke needs it to make sense of her schedule. Last night we gave her one kind of sippy cup with milk and she sat in Blake's lap for a few minutes but then got up to stagger around with the cup, spilling milk on the carpet. We switched to another kind of less-drippy sippy cup and the staggering around increased, now with sobbing and thrashing upon the floor thrown in. She was so tired and confused by the lack of bottle. Sippy cups = awake play time, not wind-down rest time. So, back to the bottle we went and all was well again. Brooke is a fantastic eater and sleeper and we are not about to mess with our proven system!

Story time and vital stats

Yesterday was Brooke's 18 month appointment. She is very healthy and got a shot and didn't even cry! She is 34.25 inches tall (97th percentile) and weighs 27 pounds (90th percentile). Dr. Mary said no more bottles. I gave her a sippy cup of milk instead last night before bed. She handed it back and questioningly said "baba?" but I gave her the cup back saying "milk in sippy cup" and that was that. We are supposed to be brushing her teeth, too. We will break in her new Elmo toothbrush sometime this weekend.

Brooke really enjoys reading books with Blake. :) He has to read very quickly though, she turns the page every few seconds!

18 Months Old

Today Brooke turns 18 months old! Happy 1/2 Birthday!

Here are some photos of her dressed up as Obi Wan and knocking on the glass to get Blake's attention.

"We named the dog Indiana."

Oh, oh, oh....I cannot wait for this movie. I also feel extremely old knowing my beloved Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was made 19 years ago....

Sallah: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Junior"?
Professor Henry Jones: That's his name.
[points to himself]
Professor Henry Jones: Henry Jones...
[points to Indy]
Professor Henry Jones: ...Junior.
Indiana Jones: I like "Indiana."
Professor Henry Jones: We named the *dog* Indiana.
Marcus Brody: May we go home now, please?
Sallah: The dog?
[starts laughing]
Sallah: You are named after the dog? HA HA HA...!
Indiana Jones: I've got a lot of fond memories of that dog

Words, etc,

Brooke continues to surprise me with new words. Last night she brought her paper and crayons over to me and was saying "At! At!". She was trying to say "art", which I guess they say at school when they do their daily crafts, etc. She likes to color, but she likes chewing the crayons even more - she smiles so naughtily at me while chewing them, she knows I don't want her to do that!

I set off the car alarm yesterday while we were right next to the car. As I strapped her in her car seat she must have said "whoa!" twenty times - the alarm was very loud.

She loves her baths now. She sits in the tub, no longer in her bath seat. She tries to stand up again and again. I ask her "Are you all done? Time to get out?" and then she shakes her head "no" and plops back down in the tub. Sheesh. Her other new bath thing is to float on her back with me holding her head. She stretches all the way out and floats very still, looking up at me. So cute!

Sunday

First - Baby #2 has turned upside down! Can't confirm it was because of the accupuncture, but I can't deny it either.....

Couple of photos. Brooke got a baby doll and she LOVES it. We went out to eat and she is a huge fan of strawberry milkshakes.

Friday.

This week has flown by. Hooray for Friday. Brooke's vocabulary continues to grow - she now says "waffles" and "shooooee". I have a Dr. apt this afternoon and hopefully my suspicion that the baby has turned upside down into proper birthing position will be confirmed! Blake is off to Florida for five days for work, so it will just be me and the little bug at home. Have a good weekend!
