Oaks Park

Blake and Brooke hit Oaks Park yesterday for the annual company picnic. They rode lots of rides and had some treats. Brooke was amazed at the whole place and very brave on the rides. What an awesome Daddy-Daughter day!

Brooke knows her sounds!  Turn the volume up for this one.

Summer Weather

Whew - so hot today! It is 9:45 at night and 87 degrees out. I took the Jeep with the roof off to fill the keg with our summer beer -Widmer's Hefeweizen- and it was 106 degrees on the freeway. Waaaay toooo hot.

We filled Brooke's pool and she played out front. Hadley spent most of the day inside. Tomorrow Brooke is going with Blake to his company picnic at a local amusement park. They should have a BLAST!

Baseball Game

Someone is very sassy in HADLEY'S swing!

Brooke and I had some one-on-one time last night at the Portland Beavers baseball game.  The weather was gorgeous.  We spent a little time in the Widmer beer garden and then we explored the stadium.  Brooke's favorite part was chasing me with her stroller and watching the light rail train go by and saying "choo choo".

The Swing and the Carnie

Hadley is taking her first ride in the swing this morning. The Carnival Ride Manager is "helping" her swing fast, very fast. I hope the novelty wears off soon or Hadley may barf.

She looks so sweet when asleep with a full tummy.

The Beast!

I can now take the girls on walks together! Sweet! And in other news - Hadley's weight at 3 weeks old is 8 pounds, 8 ounces!

Chalk Art

Just a quiet Tuesday morning around here.  Later on today we will take Hadley to be weighed and hopefully she has gained enough weight to satisfy the doctor.

Brooke broke in her new sidewalk chalk yesterday.  It was a big hit!

Here she is this morning - hanging from the closet door, demanding the "AT" (art) supplies be brought out immediately!  Check out her sweet St. Bonaventure Seraphs dress!

Sunday Night - 8:30 P.M.

And all is quiet. Blake, Brooke and Hadley are all sleeping. It was a busy weekend with the little ladies and Blake did tons of work on the deck. Tomorrow starts a whole new week...

Brooke is a big fan of ice cream.  She says "mine" over and over again.  We make sure she says "please" occasionally, too.... She wears her hat all day - I love that she does not try and rip it off her head. She also lets me put her hair in a little ponytail on the top of her head, too! I love it!!!!

The dazed look I get when the camera comes out:

Hadley-cakes gets her first bath!  She really liked it - no crying at all, just a thoughtful look on her face.

MOW!

Brooke LOVES all things tractor/construction equipment/bike/skateboard/lawn mower related. She talks incessantly about "mow"ing the lawn. Our lawn is about 500 sf and requires mowing for 10 minutes once a week. Luckily there is frequent mowing around the development to watch.

Yesterday she hit the absolute JACKPOT ! Some kids down at the local park were riding around on one of those and Brooke got to ride along! Blake was there to see it all, I was at home feeding Hadley (doh!). I wish I could have seen it. He said she was chillin' in the back for a couple of rides around the park and then she got to sit shotgon! Hilarious.

For added fun this morning they were tearing up the street using a jackhammer. Score!

Where to begin?

We have internet at home! Hooray! I can blog again. Now the challenge is where do I begin? I have lots of posts floating around in my head and I intend to blog a bunch this coming week.

For now, the girls are doing well and Blake is spending his Father's Day working on our flippin' sweet new deck in the back yard. Yessss!

Brooke loves "at" (art) time!

Hadley ponders her cute new outfit from Grandma Mary.

Home

So, a week has passed since Miss Hadley arrived. We are settling in nicely. Grandma Mary came to help out for the birth and first days at home - THANK YOU GRANDMA MARY!!!!! Brooke had so much fun with you and we appreciated your help!

Hadley is thus far a dream baby - she is nursing very well (something we had trouble with last time around) and she sleeps at night for 4-5 hour stretches!!!! Holy moly - I feel like a normal person, what with all that sleep.

Brooke is adjusting very well, her meltdowns per day have decreased each day since we returned from the hospital. She gives Hadley kisses and says "ewwwwwww" when we change her diaper. She now ignores Hadley when she cries rather than starting to cry too. Blake has been spending plenty of quality time with Brooke and she is pretty happy - she wants to hang out in the garage and watch him work.

This week begins Week One of Stay at Home Mom-hood. Once I figure out a routine, it should go okay (cross fingers....)

Here are some photos.

Hadley Grace Elizabeth

Date: June 2, 2008
Born: 8:47 P.M.
Weight: 8 Pounds, 1 Oz.
Length: 21.5"

We are so happy. :)

Still waiting, but with the end in sight....

Yes - I am posting from my hospital room. The IV is in and pictocin is ramping things up. Annnnnd, the wireless internet is working, which is good, since daytime TV leaves much to be desired. Brooke is home with Grandma Mary, asking her for the 10,000th time if someone is going to mow the lawn.... That is all for now!
