4th of July - Sort of.

We went out on Thursday night to Edgefield to listen to a free outdoor concert on the lawn. The weather was spectacular. These concerts are family magnets and there were tons of kids running around. Now that we have kids, we find ourselves swarmed by other children. Within 2 minutes of arrival, there were kids playing with Brooke, checking out Hadley and setting up shop on our blanket. Brooke investigates other kids' chairs and toys, etc. Brooke also got to check out a golf cart up close and I think she loves those as much as tractors.

We stuck around the house on Friday. It was the first 4th we actually spent at our house and we were SHOCKED by the number of fireworks that were shooting off all night in our neighborhood. Regular fountain fireworks are sold everywhere here (even Target) and the kind that shoot up in the sky are sold in Washington (though illegal in Oregon - not that that stopped anyone around here from blasting them all night). It was really crazy. Brooke missed it all, she went to bed at 7:00 p.m.

Blake continues to work on the deck and I am busy with the girls. It is non-stop around here!

Hug

I will post some photos tomorrow, but for now, I wanted to post that today I was sitting on the couch feeding Hadley while Brooke played across the room. She looked over at us, stood up, ran over, announced "Hug!" and HUGGED HADLEY! I melted into a puddle, it was that sweet. :) I also am pretty sure Hadley is attempting her first smiles.

One Month Old

I have started to get Brooke involved with helping me take care of Hadley. Yesterday she helped hold her bottle (which I showed her how to do) and she helped me burp her (which Brooke did without any prompting!). Hadley is now officially one month old and she is filling out nicely, growing plenty. Her eyes at this point are a dark blue. A couple of photos:
